"Accompanying the Dying" For Nurses & Non-medical People
I am privileged to join with the renowned Deanna Cochran of Quality of Life Care using the “Accompanying the Dying: A Practical Guide and Awareness Training” as a foundation for Advanced Life Consulting. Advanced Life Consulting is a recognized Educational Partner with Quality of Life Care. Interlaced with this program is my passion for new hospice nurses to become all they aspire to as they serve the dying at both the palliative and hospice level. This course also encourages nurses in any specialty to explore more deeply their relationship with dying and death. I want to support their practice as they deal with this every day.
This program, explores what it takes to be present while accompanying others at the end of life. We journey deeply together, a combination of inner work and the vision of how one wants to serve. This is no ordinary online program. It will give the 'know how' along with boundaries and self-care strategies. Study from the comfort of home, at the individual’s own pace. Feedback on coursework is offered as skills are enhanced. An awareness to put the foundational pieces of 'one who accompanies' comes into place. I am the personal mentor readily available to the individual nurse in their development and practice.
Currently there is no national certification for any end of life program outside of the CHPN credential (for nurses). What is outstanding about this program is it not only gives you all the comprehensive end of life material you need to serve at your best, it serves your heart. Your Certificate of Completion from Quality of Life Care and Advanced Life Consulting will be awarded to identify the commitment and adherence to the exacting standards of this program. Currently, the industry acknowledges people who receive this training as Certified End of Life Doulas. As this role develops and expands into mainstream healthcare, it will just be a matter of time before there is a national board offering guidance. For now, we are relying on our pioneering efforts to build this together.
I am currently serving the greater Philadelphia area and internationally, providing local educational opportunities as well as distance consulting and mentoring. A library of learning tools will be yours to explore. Join us, as we awaken to this sacred part of life. Join the ranks of nurses who know death is not a medical failure but a rite of passage. Individually and as a collective, we are privileged to serve people during this time. This grassroots movement is growing with professionals and lay people every day. It will be my pleasure to serve you in your journey of a lifetime. Virtual classes, consultations, and personal mentoring are available to empower you in your hospice practice.
Whether you are a nurse/new hospice nurse, or a layperson who wants to serve those from the palliative care stage to end of life, the program is especially tailored to your passion.
